why should you keep going?… honestly i dont know! i can only speak for myself. but here is what i do know: nobody ever got very far by giving up. maybe you just forgot to fill your tank. no worries, here is a little fuel to get you moving again.
there is all the glory in TRYING HARD and CARING A LOT. even if you fail, you can say you really tried, and you will know you tried HARD. then you find out you can just keep trying. the results show up almost randomly, right after a long long stretch of self doubt, and one day everything starts working. nothing, nothing, nothing, then it all comes at once.
remember when you were a little kid dreaming of making it big? we all were that kid. even the guy who has made it big in every way his little self dreamed of, pinching himself to check it’s not a dream. for years that guy was thinking “will this ever work, am i trying hard enough, do i care enough, why ME?”
so why not YOU. someone out there with half the brains (twice as stupid, in other words) already did it. WHY NOT YOU.
i wrote about Venat’s question in Endwalker before: “has the journey been good? has it been worthwhile?” it doesnt pretend the road doesnt hurt. it just asks if the walking was worth it anyway. and the game’s answer is basically forge ahead. not because the dark goes away, but because there is always one more step, one more dawn.
i think about that a lot when i want to quit. the question isnt “am i winning”. its “was i walking, and did i care while i did it”. most days the honest answer is yes, and that is enough to take the next step.
so keep going
ENJOY THE JOURNEY. ENJOY THE LULS. stay curious, try hard, care a lot. eventually you will get where you were aiming, and then you find out there is no place to stop. there is only more road, with the reaper of the past at your heels.
